About us

Bunker Precision Machining is a small, family ran machine shop located in Southwest Michigan specializing in precision turning, custom threading, and reverse engineering of parts, while taking pride in our competitive lead-times.

Although BPM has only officially opened in the last year, Austin has been in machining for close to 15 years now. Starting in a shop as a floor sweeper as a young teenager, he quickly took to machining on standard Mazak lathes, where his love for machining, specifically turning, started.

He rapidly worked his way up to parts larger than himself, turning parts to tolerances that others were unable to hold. After spending years focusing on precision turning at various shops, where he worked with parts of all different material and sizing, he took on another role where he became as efficient with Mills as he is with Lathes.

In this time, he focused on growing his knowledge of not only Milling & Turning, but becoming vastly knowledgeable with programming on both GibbsCam & Fusion 360, as well as becoming quite familiar with building custom fixtures. Although we don't currently have the capacity to take on the larger parts that he truly loves doing, we hope to soon be able to again.

In our down time (which is far & few in between), we love to travel with our kids & our dogs- Chief (pug) & Mila (hound / great dane mix) and visit our state's beautiful beaches.
